A full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) position is available to provide specialized support within a K-12 educational setting located in Summerville, SC. This contract role is scheduled from January through May 28th, 2026, offering a unique opportunity to engage with students across multiple schools while supporting an itinerant caseload during a maternity leave assignment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments and evaluations to identify student speech and language needs
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student goals
- Delivering direct therapy services to students spanning kindergarten through 12th grade
- Collaborating with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote effective communication outcomes
- Maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with state and district requirements
Qualifications and experience sought:
- Possession of an active South Carolina state license in speech-language pathology (pending licenses will not be accepted)
- Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) required
- Proven experience working with K-12 student populations in school settings, including familiarity with IEP processes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills combined with the ability to work independently in an itinerant capacity
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of clinical practice and ethical conduct
This role offers 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with the number of assigned schools to be determined based on district needs. The position requires in-person work to effectively support student needs across Charleston County Schools.
